Have I got a story to tell you

Charlie Neese over at News Channel 5 was kind enough to share the following e-mail and photograph from a guy named Steve Collins:

On 04-08-06 my son, Devin Collins, noticed a piece of paper in our driveway. When he picked it up he brought it to me and I saw that it appeared to be part of a bank statement for Lee Electric Supply, Inc. located in Gallatin, TN. I was amazed that this sheet of paper was still intact and made it to Kentucky. We live in Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky, which is we figure approximately (3) hours away from Gallatin. I have attached a picture of him holding the sheet of paper.

My son and I began looking around the neighborhood and found a few other objects that we believe could also be from the storm stricken area. Devin is (8) years old and was on Spring Break last week. He will certainly have a story to tell his class next week.

How strange to have a piece of paper caught up in the wind for so long. It was obviously very high in the air or it would have caught on something before landing so far away. I landed here via TNChick's link.

Anon... exactly. I am in Gallatin, only about 5 miles from Lee Electric. I, too, found a few invoices and also some checks from another company. It really hit home with us... if you are going to shred, then SHRED, and don't put it off. I am sure these items came from a filing cabinet... but just keep that in mind. I hope it never happens to you or us- but it is something to think about while the weather is clear.

FWIW...

I'm not 100% sure, but I understand the Father and son team that operated Lee Electric Supply, Inc in Gallatin perished in the storm. Here is a pic of the building. It's located behind the standing telephone in the center of the pic. What's left....
